My name is Mel Morgan and I'm a Tracker. I find people for a living. The people I help have no idea I know exactly how they feel because I've lost someone too. If only I could have found the one person I've been looking for all these years.

My current case is no ordinary abduction. Before long I'm neck deep in blood magic - the worst kind. I need the help of a necromancer if I'm to free the kid. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

When sexy djinn Saleem asks for help things get a little hot to handle. But how can I say no? Dodging demons and sorcerers are just part of my day job.

"So you'll arrest me because I spoke to a guy? Mighty protective of you, Detective." I smiled, injecting a little charm into the turn to my lips. "I always knew there was a reason you followed me around twenty-four seven, Detective. I just never realized it was because you had the hots for me."

A snort of laughter emanated from his dark-haired partner and I tilted my head to address him. "So who are you supposed to be? You the latest sorry sucker they found to babysit this fool?" I pointed a thumb at Fulbright who choked with fury at my words. Not that being polite to Fulbright had ever been my strong suit.

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

I Know Lucy is sharing a release with Break Free by Amber Garza!!! Enter to win a copy of each!

It is very cool to make friends in the author world and it's especially cool to be able to read and promote each other's work.

On Friday, Amber Garza released her latest book, Break Free. I can't WAIT to read it. It's sitting on my Kindle all ready to go. All I need to find now, is the time :)

Because this lady rocks, I thought you might like to get to know her a little better, so here's my little interview with the lovely, Amber Garza.

1. What was the first story you ever wrote (and be honest here - the FIRST one).
When I was around 10, I wrote a book about a nerdy boy who was being picked on in school. I literally can’t remember anything else that happened in the story or if it even had a plot. That’s all I remember.

2. What book are you currently reading?
I’m beta reading Crazy Enough to be True by Megan Squires. I love it

3. What's your favorite movie set in a high school?
A Walk to Remember

4. Who’s your go-to author - so you always buy their books because you trust them and know it’ll be a good read?
Alice Hoffman. I’m obsessed with her haunting writing style. I’d read anything of hers.

5. What’s your favorite TV show at the moment?
Nashville

6. Which actor did you have a crush on when you were a teen?
Christian Slater

7. Who’s your ultimate book boyfriend?
For awhile it was Jace from Mortal Instruments. I also really love Augustus Waters from Fault in our Stars.

8. Tell us about a favorite character you’ve written and why you like them so much.
Kyler from Break Free. He is writer like me so I feel a kindship to him. But mostly I like that he is not your typical book boyfriend. He’s brilliant, protective yet soft spoken. He’s a recluse who would rather spend time with fictional people than real ones. I don’t know. I just really connected to him.

9. What is your favorite stage of the writing process?
The rough draft. To me the blank page is the most exciting part because it is full of possibilities.

10. If you could celebrate your birthday anyway you wanted to, what would you do?
Go to the beach or a pool and just relax in the sun with my family and a good book. Then I’d want to go out to a really nice dinner and drink an expensive bottle of wine.

*****

Thank you so much, Amber. You have excellent taste in movies and books. I LOVE Walk to Remember and I'm looking forward to meeting Kyler...I love reading books about writers.

Here's a little more about Amber's latest novel, Break Free...

NEW MYSTERIOUS ROMANCE FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR AMBER GARZA...

The I KNOW LUCY Giveaway!!

I Know Lucy is due out in just under a week. Eeeppp!!! Cannot wait!!
I think I'm so ridiculously excited about this book, because along with the second book - Set Me Free, they have been two of my favorite books to write...ever.

I don't even know what it is, but these two books have captured me. I've fallen in love with the characters. I wish I could jump into the book and hang out with them. They are all so brilliant and I would have loved friends like that when I was at high school.

Another thing I love about the book(s) is that they are written from varying view points. I Know Lucy is Zach's story, so his character is written in the 1st person, where as Lucy's character is written in the 3rd person. For Book 2 - Set Me Free - it becomes Lucy's story, so her character takes on the 1st person, while Zach shifts to the 3rd person. I know it sounds kind of confusing, but it was so much fun to write that way. It was cool to do something I'd never tried before and to have it actually work.

If you'd like to be a part of the I KNOW LUCY PRE-RELASE COUNTDOWN, you can check out my author page for daily giveaways: https://www.facebook.com/melissapearlauthor

Movie Review - Endless Love

As many of you know, I'm a total sucker for high school movies, so when something like Endless Love comes along, I'm in Swoonsville.

I didn't initially know this, but it is actually a remake of the original 1981 film with Brooke Shields playing the lead. I haven't seen that version and I will probably try to track it down if I can. I love being able to compare, but it'll be hard pressed to beat this 2014 version. In my opinion, it was perfection.

I absolutely loved it. Already a fan of Alex Pettyfer, I found the character he played easy to fall in love with. His view on love and his soft manner when it came to the girl of his dreams was just exquisite. I liked that he was flawed, that past issues he'd dealt with still surfaced when he was under pressure. It made him human.

The girl - Jade Butterfield (played by Gabriella Wilde) was enchanting. She was tall and willowy and I loved how she put up a fight for her man. Her smile and energy beside her leading man was vibrant. The actors definitely had an on-screen chemistry.

There's actually nothing in the movie I could fault, except for the fact that a few of the scenes I saw in the preview were not in the movie. I was looking out for them and was disappointed when they didn't come up. Thankfully these scenes would have just been ad added bonus rather than the making of the movie. I will definitely be watching it again in the not so distance future. It's a keeper for my collection.

Series Highlight: Bad Boys by A. O. Peart, plus a giveaway!

Would you take another shot at love? Or just settle on a friend with benefits?

Their heartbreaking past will move you. Their passion will make you blush. Their antics will make you laugh out loud.

Twenty-five-year-old Natalie Davenport lugs substantial baggage. One boyfriend after the next has been a total disaster, leaving Natalie distrustful toward the male population in general. So when Colin Hampton crosses her path, she’s cautious. Her heart (and some other body parts!) nudges her to go for it, while her head wants her to run for the hills.

Colin is one of those gorgeous guys who attract women, no matter the age or marital status. With a successful career at a popular Seattle radio station, hard body, and charming personality, he is the complete package. But something dark lurks in the corners of his soul; some murky experience that has changed him—maybe for the better, but maybe for the worse.

Will he steal her heart and stomp over it like other guys did?

Will she let him into her heavily fortified world despite herself?

Or will they settle somewhere in the middle—establishing the emotional boundaries to protect them from falling in love?

How far would you go to protect the one you love?

The terrors of Colin’s past are revealed and accepted by Natalie. Her doubts about letting him into her life are finally disbanded and replaced by a sense of security and commitment. But Natalie doesn’t know that Colin’s past hides more dark secrets unknown even to him.

When a delusional psychopath threatens Colin’s life, things quickly become complicated. Natalie’s stubborn character and desire to kick ass won’t let her step aside and allow the authorities to handle the danger. She gets herself tangled up with street hoodlums, befriends a Russian mobster’s high-maintenance girlfriend, and becomes expert at picking locks and hiding evidence.

Where would you draw the line between love and trust?

When Colin’s feisty great grandma Helga mysteriously disappears, Natalie and the gun-toting Svetlana rush to the rescue. With the help of Russian mafia goons and Natalie’s girlfriends, they get more than they bargained for. Natalie invites trouble into her life all over again. She could find herself questioned by the police, or worse, her relationship with Colin could become rickety once more.

And so the race begins: with grandma Helga on the loose, Colin turns to the police for help, and Natalie is a stiletto heel tip outside of the law. But being in the wrong has never felt so vindicated.
